Joe Maddon doesn't have the perception of a conventional manager - but doesn't come off as a goofy, say-anything guy either. It seems like he has the ability to manage his team without the complications many sophisticated fans these days grumble about.
The back of his 2007 Topps card seems to succintly describe his professional career in baseball - though leading his 2008 Rays team to the World Series may mean another line [or paragraph] to his bio.
